Hello, welcome to my website!
Hello, I'm PJ.
I'm an avid birder. I admire snakes (yes, those reptiles that slither on their bellies). I enjoy hiking, backpacking, and traveling. I love good food and drink (especially coffee), good books, and vintage things. I collect pressed plants, rocks, patches, and lapel pins. I feed hummingbirds.
By profession, I'm a wildlife biologist. Birds are one of my favorite things, and I love working with them. I also love being creative, and am currently trying my hand at doing freelance art, writing, and photography. My favorite subject? Nature.
As an adult, I've become a vagabond. When I was a child growing up in rural Pennsylvania, I had always thought I would end up staying in Pennsylvania, that it would be my home. Then I started doing field biology. First, West Virginia, not too far from home. Then Florida! I was flying high! Then Michigan, California, Texas, back to PA, back to CA...okay, I'll try not to make your head spin too much. Basically, I've made a loose circle around the Lower 48. Sometimes I feel weary, but then I think of all of the places I still want to see, and the places I want to return to, I get excited all over again, and away I go.
Vagabond Crow is a personal memoir and stories about my life. I'll be writing about field biology, birding, travel, nature, food, my childhood, and other things that I find interesting. I'll post photos, art, and videos. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!
